Message from the President of the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA), Professor Beverley Kramer
Following unfortunate delays due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the IFAA Executive are looking forward to an exhilarating XXth Congress of the IFAA. The Congress is being hosted by the Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy (TSACA) with Professor Erdogan Sendemir as President of the Congress and Chairman of the Organising Committee. The Congress, which is the first IFAA Congress to be hosted online, will be streamed from Istanbul and has chosen as its important theme “Anatomy of women, women in anatomy”.
IFAA congresses gather both senior and emergent anatomists from the furthest reaches of the globe – from Shanghai, China in the east to Concordia, Argentina in the west and from Svalbard, Norway in the north to Punta Arenas, Chile in the south. This wonderful diversity of experience and cultures of our membership enables wide-ranging debate and vibrant scientific discussion on anatomical research and teaching, the training of emergent anatomists, equality and diversity in anatomy, ethical issue regarding body donation and use, and many other topics of importance to our discipline.
In addition, this Congress will again host the General Assembly of the IFAA at which representatives from all member Associations will meet to discuss issues and challenges facing the future of our discipline and the policies or developments in the IFAA.
With the exciting scientific programme that has been planned and over 40 Symposia already submitted, this is a Congress not to be missed. Emergent anatomists are urged to attend and participate at every level – you are our future! We would be delighted to include you in our deliberations and developments.
The Organising Committee under the leadership of Professor Sendemir have made huge efforts to ensure that this online Congress will cater to many of our needs. I would like to recognize and thank them for their efforts in advance.
I thus look forward to seeing you all online in August 2022 at a stimulating XXth Congress of the IFAA!
Beverley Kramer
